The Truth About Derek Rivero – The Latest Interviews from Zack and Derek

There seems to be an unceasing onslaught of rumors, lies, and slander from people on Twitter, blogs, and in bars and nightclubs from L.A. to Miami regarding the love of my life, Derek Rivero.

Honestly, what are they trying to accomplish? Some may simply be repeating what they heard because it’s “juicy” gossip (which in itself is not appropriate for 40+ year old men to even think about), but the ones who are telling the stories are truly exhibiting a childish malice I’ve not seen since middle school. If you really think you know what my relationship with Derek is like, then you are lying to yourself. If you have nothing better to do than to try to tear apart two people who love each other, then I feel sorry for you. That does not make me overlook the fact that your motives cannot be pure, and in trying to harm Derek you are merely showing the world how insecure you are with your own place in existence. Life is not about making yourself feel powerful by bullying others, calling them names, attacking them, or showing any form of hatred or dislike. The most powerful force in the universe is love, and the strongest thing a person can do when they dislike someone is to keep those negative thoughts and opinions to themselves.

When I was studying philosophy in college (specifically, we had just finished a short segment covering virtues from Socrates to Aristotle), my professor asked us to write a paper on what we thought was the most important virtue. There are many virtues that are worthy of being held in the highest regard, but I chose “tolerance” as the single most important virtue the people of today’s world need to work on. Patience is a virtue, but are generals not incredibly patient when waiting for the perfect moment to strike? Love is a virtue, but to ask one to love all life and matter in the universe equally is far from possible. Kindness is a virtue, but can one not be kind to another while secretly hoarding negative thoughts about them, whether or not they would ever act upon them to be kind to another? It is only tolerance that creates a world where there is no hatred, no impatience, no falseness of demeanor in interaction. Tolerance allows one to look upon something they may instinctively despise and overcome what immature impulses they may have to react. It is only tolerance that allows two people with conflicting views to smile and shake hands, to “agree to disagree,” to realize the true equality of life and the importance of the diversity of experience. Tolerance is the only virtue that necessitates the phrase “live and let live.” We were all born on this planet, created from the same matter, essentially a tiny portion of the universe able to look upon itself in a preciously unique experience. To harbor any amount of hatred, malice, or intolerance towards another living creature, man or insect, is to contradict the very nature of existence. We are all one. We are the universe. The true beauty of existence does not lie in the virtual world of Twitter gossip, capitalistic accomplishments, or popularity. These are all illusions we created to save ourselves the effort of finding the true purpose of existence. They are illusory concepts which would not exist without the laziness, the apathy of the human ego. It is time for you to wake up! Be free of the chains of these dreams. Take your experience on this planet to a new level and realize that all that society has valued in the past 200 years are false concepts created for the purpose of control. Time is running out.

The following is an interview that Marc from Chronicles of Pornia sent us (you can view the original version on his site here.) He has supported us from the beginning and wants the industry and fans alike to know that we are still a couple. I feel it necessary to let people know that the world does not revolve around the drama found in gay porn, or even gay culture. We are all a part of a much bigger picture, and if you choose not to see that picture, you are depriving yourself of the greatest experience the universe has to offer.

The first set of answers are in Derek’s own words, and then I follow with my own.

You and Zack (Randall) recently announced a separation and re-vamping of RandallRivero. What are the real circumstances surrounding the video press release issued recently?

~The video press release is not what it seemed at all. In fact, most of its content if not all was fabricated by external influences other than Zack and myself. Im not at the liberty to disclose too much specific information, but know that there are forces in high places involved in this fabrication and it was they who orchestrated the entire “break-up”. Careers were threatened and promises of success were made all in exchange for the public demise of our relationship. Thinking back on it, it’s scary to think that these forces have so much to gain and receive so much pleasure in causing so much damage to our public image as a couple. To this day they continue their attacks on us and have made it their goal to slander our relationship as much as possible without letting their identities be known. Your readers and supporters of our love should know that a war has been declared against us, but please be rest assured that we want and have NO part in this “war”. It is a one-sided war including only those who have nothing better to do than to discuss our relationship in public.  Zack and I know that it is only the envy that consumes these entities and fuels their hatred towards our beautiful relationship and our pure love. Please know that we have never broken up and we never will because unlike lies, real love lasts forever.

Are you looking to make a return to the industry considering current events?

~ I publicly retired from porn a little over a year ago. Since then I’ve made a few appearances for RandallRivero.com but have chosen not to work with any other companies mainly because who I am and what I do conflict very much. I’ve never said this but here is the truth, I am by no means a “pornstar” and quite frankly Ive only done porn due to sheer necessity not glamour. In all honesty, I seriously dislike engaging in sex with a stranger and having bright lights & cameras everywhere while a director screams Suck his dick! This is not my idea of a glamorous life and I don’t idolize any aspect of this career choice because I have seen how it consumes weak minds in a way that leaves them jaded and only understanding of the gay porn lifestyle instead of the true reality of the world which actually has nothing to do with pornography.  So in this regard No, I am not looking to make a return to the industry but if the right job offer comes along and bills need to get paid I will always leave the option open aslong as it doesn’t make me feel uncomfortable or morally corrupt. There are definitely many aspects of this industry that I don’t understand and absolutely do not agree with but I do not judge. Zack for example does the fetish work which I would never do and yet I still respect and love him because he knows how to draw the line between who he is and what he has done.

Does it bother you when people make statements about the two of you and the Randall-Rivero relationship?

~ It doesn’t bother me as much as it’s unsettling that people I’ve never met and have no interest in ever meeting take the time to gossip lies about us. I think it’s a bit psychotic to allow jealousy to manifest itself in such a way that these people cannot control themselves to simply shut up, live their lives, and allow us to do the same. I don’t waste my time trying to make others look bad because quite frankly between work, taking care of my family and husband, managing a household and cooking meals everyday I just don’t find the time to bad mouth unknown people that I dont care about. I can only hope that one day our haters will find a greater purpose in life free from so much negativity. All of us only get one chance and one shot at life and I just dont understand why anyone would waste it away talking about someone elses existence.

Is there something Derek and Zack would like to world to know which hasn’t been told or any misconceptions you’d like to clear up?

~ Firstly, I would like to address the press release video once more, Everyone thinks I am responsible for uploading the video on YouTube but that is simply not true. I dont have a youtube account and Ive never uploaded anything other than pictures on myspace. Those responsible for placing it on youtube are the very same people who benefit from the destruction of my reputation. I was told the video would only be seen by bloggers and industry people for the purpose of it advancing mainly Zacks career with a singles man image. It wasn’t until after we saw how the video was used that we realized the game that these entities were playing with our images. I recall reading some of the blogs with Zack and saying to him how sad it was that gay men were actually discriminating me for being gay. In an industry dominated by queans who obsess over cock how can any of them dare insult my mannerisms? If we ever expect the straight community to respect and treat us as equal citizens then we must first stop calling eachother names and insulting our very way of living. Its so childish and if I have one wish its that people would stop discrimination in every way and that love can fill their hearts and replace the hate and desire to judge our own kind. I was referred to as she,cyborg etc.. I did however have a few laughs with my friends with the cyborg thing cause I did look robotic but only because what I was saying was not the truth and it was hurtful to even pretend that what I was saying was even remotely true. If I seemed to be holding back its only because I didn’t actually agree or believe the lies I was fed and conveying. You try memorizing a speech you didnt even write while knowing its all lies. Anyone who knows me can see that I am not being myself in that video and that I was doing something that went against everything I believe in.

How will the two of you now proceed on a personal and professional level?

~ At the moment I am working on going to college and am working in fields that have nothing to do with porn. I have never been one to undermine my intelligence and I believe I can contribute so much more to other fields than what I have done in porn. However life is always changing and so the truth is I have no idea what the future is to bring but I look forward to anything the future has to offer. As far as Zack goes, he has a great career ahead of him and I support all the choices he has made and will make, and I will stand by his side regardless of what happens next.

You’ve stated that you have been together for 3 years. What makes the union of Derek and Zack so strong?

~ Zack and I met shortly after my 18th birthday and will be celebrating our 3 year anniversary on Monday August 17, 2009. Our love has continuously evolved as we have grown. We have truly come a long way as a couple and I look forward to growing old and sharing my life with the one person who loves me unconditionally regardless of what I have done or will do. I cannot pinpoint the exact source of our chemistry and I wouldn’t dare attempt to. The best answer I can give is that we have a metaphysical bond that goes beyond any worldly concept of what a relationship is. We are not comparable to any thing and the moments shared in private between us are so magical that we require no reason or thoughts to understand our love. It is simply felt deep within and extends out to our bodies and any place we occupy. In short, we are soulmates.

Is there anything you both would like to say directly to the fans?

~ I would like to thank all of our supporters and those who have an unwaivered stance on love and the privacy it deserves. Your messages always brighten my day and it’s heartfelt to see that we have so much more support for our love & for being together than those who despise it. I want to apologize if it seems that I am abandoning the industry or my few but faithful fans but please just know that as a person I have so much growing that needs to occur and I feel that the porn industry is not the best place for me to fully become all that I can be. I will never be ashamed of what I have done because thanks to porn I met my husband and fell in love for the very first time. I recognize the role porn has played in my life but I also see the potential in exploring other aspects of this beautiful world we all inhabit.

Derek, I’ve had several requests from fans who’ve expressed a desire to see you bottom. Would you like to address this topic once and for all?

~ I have never bottomed on film because as gay as it may sound I have always reserved such an act for the day I found love. One of the main differences between my character Derek and who I am in real life is that Derek only tops and the real me only bottoms. This has been a great way for me to draw the fine line between Derek and the real me. I would never allow for someone I don’t love to penetrate me, and trust me, many studios have tried throwing lots of money in my face for the rights to seeing me get fucked by some huge dick and I have always refused. Perhaps one day Zack and I will do a movie together in which you can all see our sex life as it is in the privacy of our home but for now the only person who’s had the pleasure of seeing me bottom is the one person who’s ever done it and that’s my husband.

Here are the questions addressed specifically to me (or to both of us) answered in my own words:

Does it bother you when people make statements about the two of you and the Randall-Rivero relationship?
It does bother me when people say negative things about us publicly. I don’t understand why people feel the need to gossip about something they are not a part of, particularly the ones who know me personally and can thus talk to me directly rather than talking about me to everyone else. There are numerous people in the industry and fans who have been trying to break us apart since we got together, but our love has persevered and will continue to grow despite the sophomorically inappropriate remarks made on Twitter, blogs, or any other source of printed or spoken word.

Is there something Derek and Zack would like to world to know which hasn’t been told or any misconceptions you’d like to clear up?
The two of us are in a beautiful relationship outside of the porn industry and wish to keep our private life a little more private than it has been. Don’t believe anything you hear or read about us unless you hear it from Derek or myself. Stories change every time they are retold, so only the original can be considered the truth. When we are at home, our jobs do not exist. We are just two people in love who enjoy life on a level not experienced by the majority of the population, because our free time is not spent in a virtual world that was created to keep people in Plato’s metaphorical cave.

How will the two of you now proceed on a personal and professional level?
Professionally I hope to be working a lot more now that the Freshman decision has been made. I have been scheduled to make many more live appearances and hopefully some major studios will want to work with me as well over the coming months.
Personally, Derek and I are strengthening our relationship and bringing it to the level of ideal couples like my parents or any two married lovers who stay together for decades. We are building a home, working, planning vacations, and enjoying our lives thoroughly every day.

Did you guys ever at any time have complete control and ownership of RandallRivero?
At one point, a long, long time ago… Nobody really understands the extent of our involvement with the company, so it is irksome to hear condescending remarks regarding what we’re doing with it or what we should do with it. Know that when Derek and I were working on the site (about two and a half years ago), our efforts far out-shined the current owner’s. I would love to try again with another domain name and a different business partner, but it will be long in the making.

You’ve stated that you have been together for 3 years. What makes the union of Derek and Zack so strong?
There is a bond between us that I don’t fully understand and cannot explain. It’s like the attraction of positive and negative ions. We complete each other like Yin and Yang in almost all aspects of our daily lives. Our relationship has from the beginning been full of love and the willingness to do anything to be with the other person (even flying around the world and back.) Anton Chekov has written some of the most beautiful stories about love, but even he claimed to never know how to describe it. I would say I’m in the same boat, and anybody who claims to be able to truly outline love is either lying, ignorant, or simply has never experienced it before.

Is there anything you both would like to say directly to the fans?

Zack, you’ve become known for watersports and kink play. Where does this aspect of exhibitionism come from in respect to your career?
It all started with www.boys-pissing.com when I realized I could make a lot of money doing things that that didn’t necessarily seem that bad. Obviously I started slowly, simply getting pissed on and then it grew to the piss-to-mouth transference. When I was working for Michael Lucas on “The Intern,” he became incredibly interested when I told him about my experience with boys-pissing, saying “Why didn’t you tell me before?” He immediately set up an impromptu shoot for the next morning before my flight home to make the bonus scene.
Realistically, I don’t want to be known as a “piss-pig” (as Lucas calls me) but name recognition is always beneficial, and I think I’ve done enough regular porn (75-100 scenes) where there is no pissing involved that people can respect my “non-kinky” side.

These interviews were intended to be made public before so many blogs decided to say countless horrible things about Derek and our relationship. However, I do thank Marc wholeheartedly for his efforts in setting the record straight. If the bloggers who wrote such travesties of truth had an inkling of human decency they would apologize and retract what has been wrongfully published. Watch and see who is human and who is merely a Pavlovian dog conditioned to respond to information before acknowledging the truth or lack thereof behind it. The supporters of peace, love, and wisdom already know the answers that lie behind the unspoken questions pertaining to the maturity, decency, and overall lack of virtue of the anonymous busybodies who seem to have never left high school. It is to these nosy hounds that I say: Leave the unknown to the philosophers, the original thinkers and seekers of truth to decipher, as only they will do so objectively. Your desire to spread “information” that comes from biased and uninformed sources not only damages the integrity of all involved, but puts your own honor, morality, and intelligence to question.
